Oklahoma City defeated Tombstone today 8-5 and took some of the joy out of Ben Ruiz's 300th career home run.
"I just wanted to get a good swing on the ball all day," Ruiz said. "And I did."
Despite the loss, it was a good game for the 33-year-old Outlaws shortstop. He had 2 hits, scored 2 runs and had 2 RBI.
The Twisters manager said, "You could see he was aggressive up there. The worst thing we did was throw him a strike. It probably would have been better if threw the ball outside of the strike zone every time he came to the plate because he seemed like he was in a hurry to get it over with."
In his 1794-game career Ruiz is hitting .287 with 1852 hits, 280 doubles, 44 triples and 300 home runs. He has scored 1151 runs and driven in 997.

In the latest churning of the rumor mill, reports indicate that 38-year-old catcher John Chitwood of the Oklahoma City Twisters could be on the trading block. While the player refused to comment, the team did not outright deny the claims. "If it'll help this team, we'll make a move," said one team official.

June's Pacific Batter of the Month trophy was claimed by third baseman Leo Loqui of the Oklahoma City Twisters.
Last month he compiled a .360 batting average with 5 home runs, 22 RBIs, 17 runs scored and a .441 on-base percentage.
Thus far in 2016 Loqui is batting .325 with 8 home runs, 37 RBIs and 38 runs scored.
