| Breaking News | | Saturday, August 20th, 2016: 5-6 Day for Mayes Bryan Mayes had an answer for everything the West Virginia Miners threw him today in the Bakersfield 9-2 triumph at Drillers Ballpark. He made good contact 5 times and 5 times he drilled the ball for a base hit.
The Bakersfield shortstop went 5 for 6 in the game to put his name in the record book.
Summing up his batting philosophy to BNN writers after the game, Mayes said, "I just see the ball and I hit it."
B. Mayes singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run double in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off F. Rioseco in the 9th.
This year Mayes is batting .276 with 4 home runs. | | Wednesday, August 17th, 2016: Chano Cracks 5 Hits Miami right fielder Sergio Chano could do no wrong in today's 10-4 win over the Miners as he collected 5 hits.
"In every one of his at-bats things were in his favor... he got hitter's counts," the skipper of the Miners said to the press corps after the game.
Chano agreed. "The key is getting ahead. Once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get a better pitch to hit. You know the pitcher has to come in with it. And you're ready."
S. Chano singled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off F. Rioseco in the 8th.
In 83 games this season Chano is batting .327 with 111 hits and 7 home runs. He has scored 47 runs and driven in 61. | | Friday, August 12th, 2016: Gervais Dominates West Virginia 23-year-old Cajuns pitcher Dominique Gervais had a strong outing against the West Virginia Miners at Pale Hose Ballpark, keeping them off the scoreboard the whole game.
