Today the Jarheads downed the Sugar 5-4, but Aidan Easterling did his best to avoid it as he lashed hits all over Kahului Ballpark in a 5-hit explosion, finishing up with 5 hits in 6 at-bats.
"I don't remember a better day batting, but it sure is disappointing to lose the game," the Kahului third baseman said to SION reporters in the postgame interview. "A win would have made the day much sweeter."
Asked if he had a hitting philosophy, Easterling said, "It makes it easier if you get a good pitch. The odds are in your favor then, not the pitcher's. I got a bunch of good pitches to hit today, and I didn't miss any of them."
A. Easterling singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, singled in the 9th and grounded out in the 11th.
So far this year Easterling is batting .317 with 2 home runs, 16 RBIs and 15 runs scored.

On the hill Delbert Spencer stood out and was the master of the moment as he blanked Scottsdale 10-0.
At bat the Gauntlet floundered, fizzled and failed to score.
"His fastball moves and he mixes in the slider," the Scottsdale manager said. "He kept us off balance."
The Ontario pitcher hurled a 4-hit shutout in an exceptional effort. He gave up 1 walk and numbered 6 strikeouts.
"I felt good," Spencer said. "That's probably the best fastball I've had all season. I was able to locate it pretty well. They were super-aggressive, which helped me."
