Delbert Spencer bent a little, but he didn't break against the Invaders. The Ontario pitcher hurled a 2-hit 1-0 shutout in a fine performance, surrendering 2 walks and putting up 6 strikeouts.
"Delbert is good at getting out of jams," his manager told reporters after the game. "He's almost more effective when he gets guys on base or gets behind in the count, because he uses your aggressiveness against you."
This year Spencer has made 9 starts, thrown 67.1 innings, fanned 51 batters and walked 19. His won-lost record is 4-2 with a 4.68 ERA.
