| Breaking News | | Thursday, January 1st, 2015: Smock Cruises to Shutout
The Pahrump Invaders were almost helpless today in their 4-0 loss to Fort Irwin hurler Gary Smock. He kept them confused the entire ballgame and spun a 4-hit shutout.
The Pahrump manager said in the postgame interview, "Tip your hat to Smock. He kept us off balance all night."
Smock said, "It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play. It was just one of those games that things went my way."
He had 2 walks and 2 strikeouts in a strong performance.
His record this year is 2-6 in 11 starts and Smock has a 3.71 ERA.

| Friday, December 12th, 2014: Desert Rats Whitewash Raisins, Hardy Winner
Today at Ballpark at Fort Irwin Brian Hardy baffled Landers batters on 3 hits en route to a 3-0 shutout.
"He was able to keep hitters off balance and got the ball down," said the Desert Rats skipper about his starter's performance.
Hardy had 3 strikeouts and 3 walks in the game.
Hardy has made 7 starts this season, posting 2 wins and 3 losses. Opposing clubs are batting .276 against him and he has 14 strikeouts in 45.1 innings with a 4.57 ERA.

 | Friday, December 5th, 2014: Hooray for Hernández! Hammers 5 Hits!
Huntington Beach second baseman Rafael Hernández really lit up the Fort Irwin Desert Rats with a 5-hit barrage today at Orange County Ballpark -- a performance that sparked the Surfers to a 16-3 triumph.
He shrugged off the performance after the game and said, "Sometimes the ball finds outfielders, today the ball found some holes."
R. Hernández singled in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 6th and grounded out in the 8th.
Hernández has collected 52 hits for the Surfers this year, 4 of them home runs. He has also netted 31 RBIs and scored 29 runs while batting .437.
