| Breaking News | | Friday, December 26th, 2014: Gliders Top Surfers for WWBLWL Title
The Gisborne Gliders ignited a huge celebration as they beat the Hilo Surfers 7-1 to win the Round 3.
Gisborne won the series 3-0, capturing the title for the 2nd time.
"We stepped it up at the right time...now we're the champs...it's a great feeling," the victorious manager exclaimed to the press.
The champs finished the regular season 34-20 and claimed first place in the Kiwi League Koala .
In the jubilant clubhouse after the decisive game, the Gliders owner proudly stated, "I am so happy for our city. Our great fans deserve this. I just hope they don't tear up the town celebrating too much."

 | Wednesday, December 10th, 2014: MacBeth on Rampage Against Gliders!
John MacBeth exploded for a barrage of base hits today at The Ballpark in Wanaka. The Wanaka shortstop had a field day in the 14-7 triumph over the Gisborne Gliders, finishing up with a 5-5 day and a spot in the league record book.
"My hitting philosophy is pretty simple," he said. "I focus just to see the ball and try to get a good pitch."
Well, MacBeth must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too. It was one of his best days ever with the bat.
J. MacBeth singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, walked in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and hit a two-run single in the 9th.
This season MacBeth is batting .335 with no home runs. His totals include 34 RBIs and 32 runs scored.

This week's Player of the Week was Robbie Etheridge of the Gisborne Gliders.
His red-hot bat sizzled and scorched Kiwi League pitching for 12 hits in 20 at-bats, no home runs and 5 RBIs, while hitting .600 and scoring 7 runs.
This season in 46 games, Etheridge has hit at a .409 clip with 79 hits, no home runs, 32 RBIs and 48 runs scored.
