What does it take to win the Pitcher of the Year?
Just ask Keon Prince of the Pearl Harbor Mighty Moes -- the latest Pineapple League Pitcher of the Year winner.
"My dad always told me dream big and dream always," he said. "It's not like I shoot for the Pitcher of the Year," he said. "I have big aspirations of what I want to do in this game and what I want to achieve in a long career. This was one of my goals."
The Mighty Moes pitching ace certainly dreamed big this year, winning 10 games and losing only 1. In 11 starts Prince registered a 2.14 ERA and limited other clubs to a .238 batting average. He fanned 58 in 84 innings and issued 8 walks.
This weekend Prince will be honored by the SION Baseball Writers Association at its annual awards dinner.

 | Wednesday, December 10th, 2014: Pearl Harbor's Aluera Out 1-2 Weeks
Cid Aluera of the Pearl Harbor Mighty Moes was injured in today's game against Diamond Head and had to be helped off the field by the trainers. The initial diagnosis is a strained calf muscle, and he is expected to be out for up to 1-2 weeks. It happened while Aluera was running the bases. "It hurt a lot, to be honest. I just hope it heals soon and I can get back on the field."
So far in 2014 Aluera is batting .332 with 5 home runs, 36 RBIs and 38 runs scored. He has 62 hits in 187 at-bats and a .428 OBP.

| Thursday, December 4th, 2014: Pearl Harbor Shuts Out Paniolos, Prince Winner
Pearl Harbor pitcher Keon Prince blanked the Hamakua Paniolos 1-0, tossing a 5-hitter while issuing 2 walks and collecting 3 strikeouts.
After his sharp shutout performance, he said that he gives a lot of the credit to his batterymate. "Me and him are just locked in out there. He's so great at having a feel for hitters. I couldn't do what I'm doing without him."
So far this year Prince has a 9-1 record with a 1.87 ERA.
