World Wide Baseball League News Article | |  | Thursday, October 9th, 2014: Copperheads Cerny Tosses Masterpiece Before the game Kirk Cerny liked his chances and his instincts proved to be right. In a superb outing the Copperheads pitcher whitewashed the Las Vegas Blackjack 1-0.
Cerny said in the clubhouse afterward, "I just had a feeling it was going to be my day. My control was awesome. I could throw my curveball even when I was behind in the count."
The Phenix City starter held Las Vegas scoreless, giving up 3 hits while registering 9 strikeouts and issuing 2 walks.
"We didn't have very many good at-bats," the Blackjack manager said in his postgame interview.
"When that happens, you usually lose."
This year Cerny has made 30 starts, thrown 201.1 innings, fanned 219 batters and walked 48. His won-lost record is 14-7 with a 3.13 ERA. | |
